Israeli Airstrikes Hit Key Hezbollah Arms Routes Near Syria-Lebanon Border

The Israeli army reported conducting airstrikes early Wednesday on land routes used for arms smuggling between Syria and Lebanon.

According to the military, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) targeted several key crossings within Syria that Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which oversees the transfer of arms from Iran to Lebanon, has used to smuggle weaponry.

The Syrian state news agency SANA, citing a military source, stated that the strikes caused substantial damage, particularly impacting several bridges over the Orontes River and various roads near the Syria-Lebanon border in the al-Qusayr region. These attacks, according to the Israeli army, significantly impair Hezbollah’s smuggling routes and logistics.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group, reported that the strikes hit both bridges and military checkpoints in Syria’s Homs region, a known Hezbollah stronghold. The Observatory stated that 15 individuals, identified as Syrian forces or allied militia members, were wounded in the strikes. SANA further claimed that Syrian anti-aircraft defenses responded to “Israeli aggression” over the Homs area.
