The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel, with the assistance of Russian forces in Syria, is working to prevent Hezbollah from replenishing its weapons stockpile through smuggling.

The report clarified that the key points of the proposed settlement involve preventing the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and UNIFIL from allowing Hezbollah to re-enter the southern region.

The newspaper cited Israeli security officials expressing concerns that expanding Israel’s operations in Lebanon could lead to a war of attrition.
