Israel Says It Hit Over 30 Hezbollah Targets as Strikes Continue Amid Extended Ceasefire

Israeli strikes across Lebanon intensified over the past 24 hours, as the Israeli military said it targeted more than 30 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, while separate attacks elsewhere in the country killed a Palestinian militant commander, according to Lebanese state media.

The Israeli army said the targets in the south included weapons depots, surveillance positions and buildings used by Hezbollah “to advance attacks” against Israeli forces operating along the border. It also said it had killed several Hezbollah operatives it described as being involved in attacks against Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

The escalation came as a brief and fragile calm, which had followed the entry into force of a ceasefire at midnight, was broken within hours by renewed airstrikes and artillery fire across multiple areas of the south.

Early in the morning, Israeli warplanes struck and destroyed a residential and commercial complex on the Deir al-Zahrani highway in southern Lebanon, according to local reports.

Further strikes hit Tebnine, where two members of the Islamic Health Committee were injured, as well as Kherbet Selm, Al-Duweir and Harouf. Israeli artillery also shelled the outskirts of Zawtar and Kfar Tibnit.

Overnight, additional airstrikes targeted the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, Frun, Wadi Aazzeh, Arab al-Jall and Houmine. The town of Jibsheet was also hit by heavy artillery fire, which extended to Qaaqaiyet al-Jisr, Habboush, Mifdoun, Yuhmor al-Shaqif, Kfarreman and the Ali al-Taher forest on the outskirts of Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa.

Israeli drones also continued to operate over the Tyre region, while residents in the western sector reported hearing multiple explosions in the morning.

Despite the ceasefire announcement, no significant return of displaced residents has been recorded, amid widespread concern that renewed strikes could follow earlier patterns in which truces were repeatedly violated.

Civil defense teams from the Rashaya al-Fukhar center reopened the Rashaya–El Mari road after it was blocked by rubble and debris following an Israeli airstrike the previous evening. The route has now been cleared in both directions, restoring traffic and easing movement for residents. The road is considered a vital link between El Mari and the Hasbaya region and remains the only accessible route for the town due to restrictions on the Khiyam axis.

The Benafoul road in the Sidon district was also reopened after being cut off by a strike on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that an Israeli missile strike shortly after midnight hit a residential apartment on the outskirts of Baalbek's southern entrance, killing Islamic Jihad commander Wael Abdel Halim and his 17-year-old daughter. Emergency crews were searching through the rubble for possible survivors.

In a separate development, Israeli forces carried out extensive machine-gun sweeps in the southern border town of Khiyam, according to local reports.
