Hankach Urges Centralized Coordination to Streamline Government Digitization

During a session of Lebanon’s Parliamentary Committee on Information Technology, MP Elias Hankach urged the government to adopt a unified approach to the ongoing digitization of ministries. The meeting, attended by Minister of Administrative Development Fadi Makki, focused on reviewing the progress of the project aimed at modernizing and automating government services.

Hankach stressed the critical need for ministers to coordinate closely and centrally with both the Ministry of Administrative Development and the Ministry of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence. He called for an immediate halt to any unilateral or isolated digitization initiatives, warning that such fragmented efforts impede overall progress and complicate the coordination of government-wide digital transformation.

“The current approach, where ministries pursue independent digital projects, obstructs advancement and undermines the ability to synchronize efforts effectively,” Hankach said.

He further emphasized that the solution lies in establishing a unified digitization system that links all ministries under one comprehensive platform. This integrated system would streamline service delivery to citizens while prioritizing the protection of personal data and privacy.

“A centralized digital framework is essential to provide seamless services across government bodies, ensuring not only efficiency but also safeguarding the privacy of personal information,” Hankach added.
