Israel Targets Hezbollah Sites in Eastern and Southern Lebanon

The Israeli military said on Friday it had carried out a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, targeting weapons depots and a training facility that it said were being used to prepare attacks against Israel.

According to local reports, Israeli warplanes conducted six strikes on the Zghrin highlands in the outskirts of Hermel, in eastern Lebanon’s Bekaa region. Additional airstrikes targeted the peripheries of the towns of Jbaa–Bissliyeh and the Wadi Kafarmelki area in the Jezzine district in southern Lebanon.

Israeli aircraft also launched a series of intense raids on Jabal Safi and the Bureij area on the outskirts of Jbaa, in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region.

In a statement, the army said it struck several arms storage sites and what it described as “terrorist infrastructure” belonging to the Iran-backed group, including a complex used for training fighters.

The military said the activity at the targeted sites violated the understandings in place between Israel and Lebanon and represented an ongoing threat to Israeli security.

“Hezbollah’s continued training and the presence of these facilities constitute a breach of existing arrangements and endanger the State of Israel,” the statement said.

Israel said it would continue to act to neutralize what it described as threats emanating from Lebanese territory, signaling that further strikes could follow if Hezbollah maintains its military activity.
