Israel launched a series of airstrikes across southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure, including a military compound, the Israeli military reported.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that multiple strikes hit mountainous regions in the south and east of the country, including the Zghrein highlands near Hermel and Budai west of Baalbek. Additional targets included the outskirts of Rihan, Jbour, Jarmuq, Mahmoudieh, Wadi Zotar, and areas between Deir Syrian, Qusayr, and Taybeh in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military said it struck “terror infrastructure sites in multiple areas across Lebanon,” including “a military compound used by Hezbollah to conduct training and courses” for its operatives. In Taybeh, a pickup truck was reportedly hit, killing one person and injuring four others, including two Syrian nationals. The Israeli military confirmed that one Hezbollah operative was killed in the strike.
According to the Israeli army, the training camp was used for live-fire exercises, artillery operations, and weapons storage. The strikes also targeted additional military facilities deep inside Lebanon, which Israel said were used by Hezbollah to store weapons and conduct operations.
“The IDF will continue to act to remove any threat to Israel and prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its capabilities,” the military said in a statement posted on X. “These sites and activities violate the understandings between Israel and Lebanon and pose a threat to the state of Israel.”
The military added that the camp and other facilities were used to train operatives for potential attacks against Israeli forces and civilians.
Drones were also seen flying at low altitudes over Beirut, the southern suburbs, and Sidon and its surrounding areas, according to local media.
