Government Sets October 2 Start Date for Expat Voter Registration

Lebanon will open voter registration for its expatriate community on October 2 ahead of the country’s next parliamentary elections, the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs announced in a joint statement on Tuesday.

The registration window, which will run until November 20, 2025, allows Lebanese citizens living abroad to sign up to participate in the polls, in line with Article 113 of Law No. 44/2017.

The statement stressed that the move comes as part of ongoing coordination between the two ministries. Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar and Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji have been working “almost daily” to oversee preparations, with the aim of ensuring the best possible administrative and technical conditions for expatriates to take part in what officials described as a “national milestone.”
