Gemayel to Hezbollah: We Will Not Change Our Positions, We Will Keep Defending Lebanon's Interests

Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel affirmed his adherence to his national positions and principles, and his defense of the country despite all the smear campaigns directed against him.

Gemayel rejected Hezbollah's decision to determine the future of the Lebanese and the destruction of their country.

"There will be no change in our positions, principles, or defense of our country. We reject anyone deciding our future, and we refuse to allow Lebanon or any other country to be led to destruction or dragged into war," he noted.

"We refuse Hezbollah to be the one deciding the future and destruction of the entire Lebanese people and their country. Hezbollah is taking decision on our behalf, meaning that Lebanon is not only tied to it, but our fate is now linked to Hamas. In other words, we must wait for what happens between Hamas and Israel to know our destiny. This is a direct violation of our rights as Lebanese to determine our fate and future," he explained.

He warned hat the country might be dragged into a major war, saying that this will not be acceptable today or a thousand years from now.

He considered the real objective of the war and the supporting front is for Iran to establish itself as the main axis in the Middle East, protect its interests, and sell positions to the Arab people.

"It is our duty to defend the oppressed, but not to the extent of destroying our country," he said.

"We are the ones defending the rights of the oppressed, but involving our country in a war is a different matter," he went on saying.

"We seek a strong state, a stable country, genuine partnership, and equality in decision-making and self-determination. We desire a country of partnership, having been involved in its foundation and independence for over 85 years. Thus, we are committed to the 10,452 square kilometers," he stressed.

Gemayel reiterated his party's support for a single army and a single foreign policy based on the culture of life and decent living.

"Our greatest crime is that we demanded that everyone live in peace, prosperity, and a strong economy, that our funds should not be frozen in banks, and the doors of exports should not be closed. We should not be subjected to sanctions, and the country should not be destroyed every ten years," he asserted.

"We do not want a country where the ambition of its youth lies in life outside of it, awaiting an unknown fate. We do not want to live miserably, contemplating migration," he added.

He considered the current budget's goal to be the destruction of the remaining legitimate economy in favor of Hezbollah.

"We want a country with a legitimate economy, not a semi-legitimate one," he noted.

"Their decision is in Iran, their money is from Iran, their weapons are from Iran, and their cause is not Lebanese," he stated.

"The sole discussion today should revolve around reclaiming our independent decision, and later focus on amending the system," he stressed.

"We want to live together as equals in rights and duties. You are a party, and we are a party. We enter the parliament; we have deputies, and you have deputies participating in political life. It is not that you have weapons and we don't, and it's not only you who decide while we are forbidden from making decisions," Gemayel said addressing Hezbollah.

"Do you want to live in equality? That's what we want in a state where we develop its system, decentralization, and a constitution where all Lebanese will be happy. But if you do not want that, the solution is not to amend the system. What will we do between the Lebanese Republic where all Lebanese who wish to live under the state's umbrella from all sects, denominations, and regions, and the Republic of Hezbollah? The debate will be whether there are two republics or not, and not another matter. How will two republics coexist on the same land?" he asked.

"We will not legitimize Hezbollah's illegal weapons, as happened in Iraq with the Popular Mobilization Forces. After the war, we will not accept to bear the cost of Israel's security in any way. Go and pay it from your own account. We will not give Hezbollah the green light in Lebanon in exchange for securing Israel's safety. We, representatives of all sects, will not be alone in this. Let us rid ourselves of fear from within and have the courage to speak out," Gemayel pointed out.

"We want to be present on all platforms, advocating for Lebanon's interests, and speaking the truth to everyone," he emphasized.

"This is our country, and we will not flee; we will defend it against all odds, whoever wishes and whoever refuses, without scrutinizing the identity of those engaging with us," he added.

"We are the ones who should scrutinize the identity of 'Amos Hochstein'. Let's search for his other nationality. In which army was he in 1993, and whom did he fight alongside? With the Israeli army," he indicated.

The Kataeb Leader indicated that Hezbollah is holding sway over the country, preventing the Lebanese people from determining their destiny.

He questioned the absence of the government, the Minister of Defense, and the Parliament.

"Our battle is distinctly national, not sectarian nor factional," he asserted.

Gemayel highlighted the urgent need to unify efforts and establish a broad front to stand, resist, and reclaim the country.

"Do not be afraid, the time has come... and in the end, our cause is Lebanon first, Lebanon first, Lebanon first," he concluded.
