French President Emmanuel Macron is persistently addressing the factors that led to the failure of his country’s previous mediation efforts in Lebanon.
He is emphasizing his determination to advance Le Drian’s mission to the country.
Macron's notable mention of Lebanon in a dedicated section of his speech to French ambassadors worldwide has drawn attention, particularly his implication of Iran's involvement in obstructing the Lebanese presidential elections.
This emphasis on Iranian intervention, coupled with Le Drian's impending return to Beirut for his third visit, is seen to hold new implications, signaling a relative shift in France’s approach aligning with the Quintet Committee’s path.
According to An-Nahar, Le Drian is scheduled to arrive in Beirut on September 11.
