According to informed sources cited by Al-Akhbar newspaper, there is a sense of alignment between Qatar and the United States within the Quintet Committee, contrasting with France's uncertainty, Saudi Arabia's firm stance, and Egypt's neutrality.
These sources have outlined a roadmap consistent with the National Moderation Bloc's proposal, which involves consultations among parliamentary blocs followed by public sessions.
In the event of a lack of consensus, each bloc would nominate its candidate, leading to an election process convened by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. Additionally, there were plans to enhance ambassadorial engagements with visits from foreign ministers of certain committee countries to Beirut.
However, the recent visit by US envoy Amos Hochstein suggested a deadlock, indicating a reluctance from the United States to heavily engage in the presidential issue, instead prioritizing the security situation in the southern region.
Consequently, it was agreed to focus on ambassadorial engagements, with the understanding that the current situation represents a repetitive cycle with no substantial progress.
