"The Quintet" Seeks to Break the Presidential Stagnation

Between Israeli threats to expand the war zone in Lebanon and Hezbollah's insistence on linking Lebanon to the war in Gaza, it seems that the Quintet Committee has seriously begun to save the presidential entitlement by first separating the presidency from the Gaza war, and secondly, unifying its positions and specifications to avoid repeating the French experience.

In this context, "Nidaa Al Watan" newspaper reported that the Arab and international Quintet Committee is working to save the presidential entitlement, which was due at the end of October 2022, but has not been completed yet.

Sources who met with the Saudi ambassador, Waleed Bukhari, reported that the latter showed his country's desire to consult with Lebanese parties to break the presidential deadlock.

According to the newspaper's information, Bukhari clarified that "the goal of the Quintet Committee meeting is to unify the position on the president's specifications and not to repeat the French experience, meaning that no party should speak a different language from the other".

Bukhari confirmed that "after unifying the president's specifications, the search moves to a later stage to the names that meet these specifications".

He emphasized that "the next stage will witness more pressure to complete the presidential entitlement, as the Quintet Committee will work to separate the presidency track from the Gaza war".
