Aoun to Economic Council: Help Steer the Government in the Right Direction When Necessary

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met on Monday with a delegation from the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council, reaffirming the importance of national unity and trust-building between the state, the people, and the international community.

During the meeting, Aoun emphasized that Lebanon is not based on a single component, and the collective efforts of all must be harnessed to restore confidence both within the country and abroad.

Addressing the delegation, Aoun highlighted the crucial advisory role they play in assisting the government, urging them to act without hesitation in correcting the course when necessary, for the benefit of the public interest rather than personal gain.

The president also reflected on the potential of Lebanese citizens abroad, noting their creativity and success in foreign countries.

"If they can thrive abroad, why can't they do the same in their homeland?" Aoun remarked, stressing that while differences in opinion are vital and respected in Lebanon, disputes should be avoided as they only cause harm.

Furthermore, Aoun reiterated his commitment to ensuring Israel's adherence to the terms of the agreement, particularly its withdrawal by the scheduled deadline and the return of prisoners. He called on the international sponsors of the agreement to take responsibility and support Lebanon in this endeavor.
