An Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle in the southern Lebanese town of Ayta al-Shaab on Wednesday, as Israel maintained control over five strategic points in the south following its withdrawal from the region a day earlier.
The strike hit a Rapid vehicle, killing a Hezbollah member, who was also the mayor’s son, and seriously injuring his wife.
Later, the Israeli military confirmed the strike, saying it targeted a Hezbollah operative after he had been identified handling weapons.
The Israeli army also reportedly launched a sweeping operation using machine-gun fire from its position at the Radar site on the outskirts of Shebaa, firing toward residential homes in the town.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces, including two Merkava tanks, opened fire on a Lebanese Army post in the Barakat al-Naqar area, south of Shebaa. No casualties were reported.
Elsewhere in southern Lebanon, several civilians were injured after Israeli forces opened fire on the Al-Wazzani recreational area. The incident occurred as local residents were inspecting the site following their return.
Additionally, significant drone activity was reported over several areas, with low-altitude Israeli surveillance drones spotted over the towns of Al-Dweir, Jebchit, Al-Sharqiya, Ansar, Aabba, Harouf, Toul, Al-Nmairiyeh, and Al-Kfour.
