ALPI-PAC Urges Reform as Salam Moves Forward with Government Formation

The American Lebanese Policy Institute Political Action Committee (ALPI-PAC) congratulated Judge Nawaf Salam on his nomination as Lebanon’s Prime Minister-designate, stressing that this significant milestone, alongside the recent election of President Joseph Aoun, offers a vital opportunity to advance reform and stability in Lebanon after years of political stagnation.

"His nomination brings hope for governance rooted in transparency, accountability, and service to the Lebanese people. This is a crucial step toward rebuilding trust in institutions, providing essential services, and creating an inclusive environment for all Lebanese communities," the statement read.

"Judge Nawaf Salam's nomination as Prime Minister-designate represents a chance for Lebanon to chart a new course," said Paul Elhindi, President of ALPI-PAC. "We are committed to supporting efforts that promote reform, stability, and the well-being of the Lebanese people."

For Lebanon to succeed in its recovery, ALPI-PAC stressed the importance of a government that prioritizes comprehensive reform and refrains from appointing individuals associated with corruption or actions that undermine the country's sovereignty. A government committed to these principles will not only restore confidence among the Lebanese people but will also strengthen Lebanon’s standing with the international community, opening the door for much-needed external support.

"We remain hopeful that this new leadership will provide the platform for a more transparent and accountable government," added Elhindi. "It is essential that Lebanon’s leaders come together to work toward a brighter, more prosperous future."

ALPI-PAC urged all Lebanese political leaders to seize this historic moment and collaborate toward rebuilding the nation. By embracing accountability, prioritizing the needs of the people, and advancing vital reforms, Lebanon can embark on a path of recovery and renewed hope.
