Lebanese Kataeb Party leader, MP Samy Gemayel, met with a delegation from the "Towards Rescue" group on Wednesday to discuss Lebanon’s ongoing political challenges. The delegation, which included Sheikh Abbas Al-Jawhari, journalist Mohammad Barakat, and political activist Dr. Hadi Murad, engaged in an in-depth conversation with Gemayel.
Following the meeting at the Kataeb headquarters in Saifi, Al-Jawhari outlined the initiative's purpose, emphasizing the importance of unity among Lebanon's active political forces.
"On behalf of myself and my colleagues in the initiative, we look forward to collaborating with all of Lebanon’s vital forces that are willing to join hands for the country’s salvation," Jawhari said. "Lebanon deserves much more from us all."
"We presented the national rescue initiative to MP Gemayel, providing him with its political framework and future objectives. The discussion focused on Lebanon's current challenges, particularly the need for immediate action regarding the Israeli withdrawal from the remaining occupied territories, a longstanding issue. This was a central point of our meeting."
The conversation also touched on Lebanon's path to stability, with Jawhari stressing the importance of forming a government capable of leading the country toward genuine rescue.
"This rescue requires a rational and wise approach, something that the Kataeb Party, under the leadership of Sheikh Samy, has consistently embodied," Al-Jawhari said. "The policy of extending a hand to others is crucial for Lebanon’s future, and we reiterated the necessity of maintaining this approach."
He also condemned what he called “chaotic and demagogic" parades that fail to provide constructive solutions, emphasizing that dialogue remains the only path to securing Lebanon’s stability and recovery.
The meeting was attended by Kataeb Political Bureau members Samir Khalaf and Maroun Assaf.
