Kataeb Political Bureau approved the party leader’s proposal to appoint Walid Fares as third Deputy Head of the Kataeb Party, after he was Head of the Expatriate Body since 2012.
Fares was born in 1955 in Saida. He graduated in Law and holds a postgraduate degree in History.
Following his studies, Fares practiced law and became an appellate lawyer in the Beirut Bar Association. In 1974, he joined the Kataeb party after spending three years in the Kataeb students and youth.
He was appointed as Coordinator of the Lebanese Forces International Affairs from 1981 until 1985 under the leadership of President Bachir Gemayel. In 2005, he was elected as member of the Kataeb political bureau and was appointed as Secretary-General Assistant in 2007. In 2010, Fares served as Secretary-General of the Kataeb Party.
