The Lebanese Kataeb Party condemned repeated threats, insults, and campaigns of vilification targeting journalists, warning that attempts to silence independent voices will not succeed.
In a statement issued by its Media Department on Friday, the party described these actions as “a blatant attack on freedom of expression and the essential role of the media in uncovering the truth and holding those in power accountable,” adding that they reflect a deliberate strategy of intimidation.
The statement expressed full solidarity with journalists who continue to “fight with words” in defense of a neutral, independent Lebanon, and the public’s right to know the truth. It also emphasized that truth-telling is “mightier than any weapon in confronting attempts at censorship and misinformation.”
“These threats, however severe, will not break the resolve of free journalists,” the statement said. “They will only strengthen their determination to expose the truth and reveal all those responsible for dragging Lebanon into cycles of war, violence, and suffering.”
The party called on relevant authorities to take responsibility for protecting journalists and holding perpetrators accountable, stressing that press freedom remains a “red line” and that the voice of truth “will not be silenced, no matter the intensity of intimidation campaigns.”
