Serena Williams Drops Tournament Due to 'Extreme Dizziness'

Tennis player, Serena Williams, was obliged to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open while facing Spain's Garbine Muguruza at Indian Wells due to “extreme dizziness.”

While Williams won the first three games of the match, she was forced to called for the trainer after losing the next six in succession.

"Before the match, I did not feel great, and then it just got worse with every second; extreme dizziness and extreme fatigue," Williams told the tournament's official website.

"By the score, it might have looked like I started well, but I was not feeling at all well physically. I will focus on getting better and start preparing for Miami,” Williams stated.

The tournament organizers explained on Twitter that Williams was affected by a “viral illness.”
