Southern Lebanon and Beirut Suburbs Hit by Intense Israeli Airstrikes and Shelling

Southern Lebanon endured a night of violent Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling, resulting in significant damage and loss of life. The southern suburbs of Beirut were also hit by a series of Israeli attacks, marking an escalation in hostilities amid ongoing tensions.

Multiple Airstrikes Across Beirut Suburbs

The southern suburbs of Beirut were subjected to a barrage of 17 Israeli airstrikes overnight. The strikes targeted areas including Chiyah, Saint Thérèse, two buildings at the Jamous-Sfeir intersection near Amira Bakery, the surroundings of Choueifat, Hadath’s American neighborhood, the Mujtaba complex, Gallery Semaan, and the Five Wings complex in Choueifat–Amrousiyeh.

The Israeli army confirmed that it had carried out multiple strikes in recent days against Hezbollah infrastructure situated throughout Beirut, releasing footage of one such strike and stating that its fighter jets had operated based on precise intelligence to target "weapon production sites" and other infrastructure in and around the capital.

“The Hezbollah terror organization places its production sites and its weaponry under residential buildings in the heart of Beirut and endangers the population in the area,” the Israeli army said in a statement, justifying its operations in civilian areas.

Family Killed in South Lebanon Strike

In the early hours of the morning, an airstrike hit a home in the southern town of Debel, killing three members of the same family. Samih Said, his wife Hala Zaknoun, and their son Fadi Said were killed in the attack. It remains unclear whether the home was directly targeted by an airstrike or if a missile malfunctioned and struck the house before reaching its intended target.

Heavy Bombardment in Nabatiyeh

The city of Nabatiyeh also came under heavy attack. At approximately 7:45 AM on Wednesday, two Israeli airstrikes targeted homes in the Salihiya and Nun’s neighborhoods. Less than an hour later, at around 8:20 AM, a third airstrike hit the Maslakh neighborhood, marking the third attack on the city in less than an hour.

Overnight, intense airstrikes were reported in Khiyam, Kfarkila, Taybeh, the area between Blat and Debbin, Yaroun, and Maroun al-Ras. Israeli artillery shelling also struck Khiyam, Kfarkila, Mays al-Jabal, Aytaroun, and Blida.

Continued Strikes on Southern Villages

Throughout the night, Israeli warplanes expanded their operations across southern Lebanon. Starting from midnight, a wide-scale aerial assault was launched on the Nabatiyeh region, with airstrikes targeting the heights of Jabal Safi and the Buweirij area in the Iqlim al-Tuffah area. Several areas in Nabatiyeh were hit as well.

Further airstrikes targeted the Ain al-Jamal area near Regina in Zibdeen and the town of Arnoun, while another airstrike hit a building near Hiram Hospital at the southern entrance of Tyre.

Extensive Damage in Border Villages

The Israeli bombardment extended to several border villages in southern Lebanon. The border town of Ayta al-Shaab was hit by airstrikes, severely damaging a residential home. Airstrikes also struck various locations in Maarakeh, while artillery bombardment simultaneously targeted the towns of Maroun and Yaroun.

An airstrike destroyed a house in Alma al-Shaab, injuring several Syrian residents who were taken to hospitals in Tyre. Meanwhile, in the town of Bdeias, civil defense teams continued to search for a missing person trapped under the rubble of a house targeted two days prior.

Israeli Shelling and Hezbollah Confrontations

The Israeli military continued its heavy artillery shelling of areas near Ayta al-Shaab, Ramieh, and Bint Jbeil, with civilian infrastructure suffering significant damage. This morning, Israeli forces shelled the outskirts of Bint Jbeil once again, intensifying the bombardment across the region.

Reconnaissance aircraft, drones, and fighter jets continue to hover over the villages in the districts of Tyre and Bint Jbeil, launching flares as the aerial and ground attacks persist. The villages of Khyam, Kfarkila, and the Marjayoun plain remain under continuous artillery shelling.

Hezbollah Foils Israeli Infiltration Attempt

Hezbollah issued a statement claiming that its fighters had thwarted an attempted Israeli military infiltration at dawn on Wednesday. According to the statement, Hezbollah forces engaged an Israeli infantry unit attempting to cross into the town of Adaisseh from the Khaleh al-Mahafir area. The ensuing clash inflicted casualties on the Israeli force, which was forced to retreat, as per Hezbollah's statement.

Al-Hadath news outlet reported that Israeli soldiers were killed or injured in the ambush near Adaisseh. Israeli media confirmed that several soldiers were wounded during an exchange of fire with Hezbollah fighters near the Lebanese border, with the injured soldiers transported to Rambam Hospital in Haifa and Ziv Hospital in Safed, in the Upper Galilee.
