As France hosted an international support conference for Lebanon, MP Salim Sayegh issued a direct appeal to French President Emmanuel Macron, urging him to press Lebanese officials into opening two northern airports—Qleiat and Hamat—as an urgent solution to alleviate the nation’s deepening crisis.
"Today, you are hosting the Prime Minister of Lebanon and Minister of Public Works, Ali Hamiyeh, under the banner of humanitarian aid," Sayegh said. "You can ask them to open the Qleiat and Hamat airports in the north. The priority for the victims in Lebanon—and all of Lebanon has now become a victim—is to resort to this urgent solution," Sayegh said in an address to Macron.
Sayegh described his message as a "distress call" to the French president and, through him, to all of Lebanon’s friends attending the conference.
