Caretaker Minister of Interior Bassam Mawlawi conducted an inspection tour of Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut to review the security arrangements and measures implemented by the Airport Security Apparatus ahead of the holiday season.
Mawlawi was accompanied by key security officials, including Brigadier General Fadi Al-Kfoury, head of the Airport Security Apparatus; Brigadier General Ezzat Al-Khatib, commander of the Airport Gendarmerie Brigade; and Brigadier General Johnny Al-Sissa, head of the General Security Division at the airport. Senior officers from various security agencies operating within the airport also took part in the tour.
During the visit, Mawlawi reassured the public about the state of security at the airport.
"Security operations are proceeding very efficiently, and security concerns have not impacted the airport. The measures in place are being coordinated among all security agencies," he stated.
He highlighted the continuous efforts of the Airport Security Apparatus to ensure safety, stressing that strict security measures are being implemented and that every effort is being made to curb any threats.
Addressing concerns about potential security lapses, particularly regarding wanted individuals affiliated to the toppled Syrian regime, Mawlawi disclosed that photographs of these individuals are prominently displayed in the arrival halls and at entry points.
"No security errors can occur at Beirut Airport," he affirmed, underscoring the airport's adherence to legal protocols and its unwavering commitment to upholding the law.
