Salameh Rejects Resignation Request of Berri and Mikati Before End of His Mandate

According to An-nahar, a meeting took place yesterday between House Speaker Nabih Berri, and the caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in Ain al-Tineh. While they discussed Lebanon's official position at the Arab summit, but the focus was actually on the issue of the central bank governor. They both agreed on requesting the resignation of Governor Riad Salameh.

According to the information, Berri and Mikati sent a message to Salameh requesting his resignation, but he refused, stating that he would not accept such a request until the end of his mandate.

He considered it an admission of the accusations against him, which he is not willing to accept, saying that each person should bear his own responsibilities.

The information also indicates the formation of a joint crisis team by Berri and Mikati to address this development.
