Salam Holds High-Level Security Meeting Amid Regional Tensions

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam convened a high-level meeting at the Grand Serail on Saturday to assess Lebanon’s readiness in the face of escalating regional tensions. The session aimed to ensure the continuity of essential public services, strengthen institutional preparedness, and prevent any attempts at exploitation or monopolization during the current crisis.

The meeting brought together Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri, Defense Minister Michel Menassa, Interior Minister Ahmed Al-Hajjar, Economy Minister Amer Al-Bisat, Social Affairs Minister Haneen Al-Sayyed, Health Minister Rakan Nasereddine, Public Works Minister Fayez Rasamny, Justice Minister Adel Nassar, and Major General Muhammad Al-Mustafa, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Defense.

Following the meeting, Salam called on all Lebanese citizens to remain calm and exercise prudence, emphasizing that national interests must take priority amid the volatile regional landscape.

“We are actively engaged in the necessary diplomatic contacts to safeguard Lebanon from the impact of ongoing regional tensions,” Salam said. “There is no cause for panic. Our markets are well-stocked with food, medicine, and fuel, with supplies expected to last at least two months to meet citizens’ needs.”

Salam confirmed that vital supply routes remain fully operational, including sea and air transport links, and that Beirut’s airport continues to function without disruption.

Addressing concerns over rising prices, the prime minister warned against any unjustified increases, highlighting that all ministers are closely monitoring their sectors to maintain market stability.

“Each minister is following up to ensure that markets remain stable and protected for the benefit of all citizens,” he said.
