President Gemayel Meets with Canadian Foreign Minister

Former President Amine Gemayel met with Canada's Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, in the presence of Kataeb Lawmaker Dr. Selim Sayegh and Dr. George Yazbeck.

During the meeting, the Canadian Foreign Minister welcomed President Gemayel and expressed her country's keenness on Lebanon's political and security stability, as well as the proper functioning of its institutions, enabling it to play its full role during this critical phase in the Middle East.

President Gemayel outlined before the Canadian Minister the two primary challenges facing the Lebanese people.

Firstly, the presidential vacuum and the priority of electing a president as a gateway to regularizing the democratic process.

He considered that this election should symbolize the imperative of sovereignty needed to reclaim Lebanon from the void and liberate it from prevailing dictates.

Secondly, distancing Lebanon from the repercussions of the war in Gaza to safeguard the country against any Israeli recklessness that could turn Lebanon into a war zone, a scenario vehemently opposed by the vast majority of Lebanese across all regions.
