Parliamentary Meeting In Search of a Rescue President

Several deputies, including Kataeb parliamentarians, gathered at Fouad Makhzoumi's place on the eve of the start of the constitutionally mandated period for choosing the president of the Republic. Discussions featured high on the presidential entitlement for it is a pivotal step that would determine the future of Lebanon and its people in the upcoming years.

In this context, the group discussed the requirements and responsibilities of the next president. It was decided that the candidate who would save Lebanon would be elected president, not one who would stick with the status quo, simply manage the problem, or watch helplessly as Lebanon, its State, and its institutions implode.

The deputies therefore unanimously agreed on the significance of developing a comprehensive and coordinated approach. The sovereign, reformative, and change forces shall unite upon it in a bid to pass this entitlement and save the crisis-hit nation from complete collapse.

In these vital national conditions, the attendees were unanimous in their decision to step up their meetings, increase their coordination, and collaborate more closely.

The meeting was attended by Kataeb lawmakers Nadim Gemayel, Elias Hankach, Selim Sayegh, Makhzoumi's colleagues in the Tajadod bloc: deputies Michel Mouawad, Adib Abdel Massih, Ashraf Rifi, as well as deputies Neemat Frem, Ghassan Skaf, and Jamil Abboud.
