Hezbollah is trying, through linking the process of electing a president of the republic to consensus or a prior agreement for the presidential election sessions, to absolve itself of the responsibility of obstructing the presidential entitlement with "alternative words", sometimes by calling for a dialogue that is known in advance to be unproductive, and now by confirming the separation of the presidency from what is happening in the south, while it affects not to talk about any subject before the end of the war in Gaza.
On the other hand, it still considers that "Frangieh has chances", according to what Shiite circles say, and confirms that "there are absolutely no concessions in the south" to Israel or Washington, nor talk about the southern situation or stopping the "support" war before the end of the Gaza war.
With Hezbollah preoccupied with the war and the Opposition's hardening stance and its decisive declared position, which it conveyed to the concerned parties that are moving presidentially that there is no presidential bargaining leading to the election of Marada Movement Leader Sleiman Frangieh or any candidate belonging to Hezbollah team, the Quintet Committee began a renewed movement on the presidential line through its ambassadors in Lebanon, after they "unified" the position at least formally, and they opened their tour yesterday by meeting Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
Information from "Nidaa Al-Watan" indicates that the Quintet Committee confirms several factors with its movement. Despite the presence of events and a war that diverted attention and eyes from other files, these countries' interest in Lebanon and the presidency file is still standing. Secondly, to confirm that the Quintet countries are all moving within an agreement and a common space and the same goals. Thirdly, the five countries are moving to say that there is an opportunity to be exploited to achieve a presidential breakthrough. Fourthly, the committee members confirm that they separate between the war and their keenness not to extend it and control its situation and between the presidency file.
Parallel to these elements, the problem remains the same, the outside wishes, encourages, and tries to mediate, but the decision is with the internal political forces, and Hezbollah still maintains the same position either Frangieh or waiting until after the Gaza war.
As long as the problem remains the same, no progress can be made. Despite this movement, there is no hope for anything new at the presidential level soon, as the situation in the region is heading towards more heating and explosion, from southern Lebanon to the Red Sea, at a time when there is anticipation for the United States' response to targeting American bases on the Jordanian-Syrian border.
Therefore, the "mind" of the resistance is outside Lebanon, what is happening is linked to its future and the fate of the axis to which it belongs, and it does not show any interest in the presidential issue unless there is an agreement to elect Frangieh.
Therefore, as long as Hezbollah maintains this presidential position at a time when the Quintet Committee has decided its position that there is no way out of the presidential vacuum except through "the third option", there is no possibility to accomplish the presidential entitlement, for "the key" lies in its hand and when it declares its direction to a third presidential option, the foreign movement will lead to the screening of the proposed names and reaching a name or more with no "veto" from any team on it.
As for the sovereign opposition, it is not in the mood to be lenient with the presidential elections, and it focuses on the fact that what followed October 7 pushes it towards "more strictness to elect a president whose positions are not similar to the positions of the current Prime Minister Najib Mikati now, the official position must not change and it is not permissible to cover the legitimate position with the illegitimate position, and therefore the Opposition is heading towards more strictness so that the official authorities are not linked to the unofficial reality".
