Noun: Real Confrontation Is Not with Judiciary But with Speaker Berri

The spokesperson for the families of the Beirut port explosion victims William Noun stated that the most significant achievement made by the families is obtaining a decision from the European Union to form an international fact-finding committee to uncover the truth about the events of August 4, 2020.

Noun emphasized that the real confrontation is not with the judiciary but with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

He explained that they have successfully opposed attempts to slow down the domestic judicial investigation in Lebanon, affirming that the families are engaged in a battle against political forces opposing the judicial investigation.

He added that the planned visit to the Vatican has been postponed pending decisions from the Lebanese judiciary, saying that Pope Francis has dedicated a global youth meeting to Lebanon and the Beirut port explosion issue.
