New Round of Lebanon-Israel Talks Set for Rome Next Week

The next round of U.S.-brokered talks between Israel and Lebanon will take place in Rome next week, an Israeli official told The Times of Israel.

The talks are expected to last two days, although it has not yet been decided whether they will begin on Tuesday or Wednesday, the official said.

The meetings Tuesday and Wednesday aim to “build the force” that would verify whether pilot areas have been cleared of Hezbollah presence, Israeli public broadcaster KAN reported.

The US is seeking to expand the areas from which Israeli forces would withdraw and transfer control to the Lebanese army, it added.
