Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday declared a significant escalation in his country's military campaign against Iran, announcing that the Israeli Air Force had achieved air superiority over Tehran following overnight strikes on multiple nuclear sites.
Speaking from Tel Nof Airbase, south of Tel Aviv, alongside Defense Minister Israel Katz and Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, Netanyahu said Israel’s operation was aimed squarely at two key strategic threats: “Eliminating the nuclear threat and eliminating the missile threat.”
“This is a change in the entire campaign,” Netanyahu said, standing before rows of air force personnel. “Our air force not only defends Israel’s skies, it now controls the skies over Tehran. This is a tremendous achievement, a game-changer.”
“This is a campaign for victory, and that victory is built on incredible people like you,” he told air force personnel. “The entire nation salutes you, and many around the world are watching you with admiration. It’s a fundamental part of the hope for the victory we will achieve. Continue going forward all the way.”
The prime minister accused Iran of targeting civilians indiscriminately.
“Tehran is deliberately targeting our civilians,” he said. “Israel, in contrast, is striking regime targets precisely and decisively.”
Netanyahu also issued a direct warning to the residents of the Iranian capital, urging them to evacuate.
“We are telling Tehran’s residents to get out,” he said.
Meanwhile, Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited the central city of Petah Tikva, where four people were killed in a missile attack. Standing in front of a damaged residential building, Herzog also called for dramatic change in Iran.
“I think the Iranian people are fed up, and they want change. And so, of course, does the entire region. We deserve change,” Herzog said, suggesting that the mounting pressure from Israeli operations could fuel internal dissent within the Islamic Republic.
