Nadim Gemayel Pushes for Unified Beirut List in Upcoming Municipal Elections

Kataeb MP Nadim Gemayel reaffirmed the party's commitment to its core values, emphasizing its longstanding dedication to Lebanon and its continued readiness to serve the country.

Speaking at a handover ceremony marking a leadership transition in the Kataeb’s Rmeil district, Gemayel underscored the party’s resilience and adaptability in a shifting political landscape, pointing to the growing number of young members as a testament to its enduring relevance.

“The fact that we see new faces joining us in Rmeil proves that the party’s democratic values are alive and well. This is clear evidence of power rotation and independence,” he said.

Looking ahead, Gemayel stressed the need for a new generation to step up and assume leadership roles within the party.

"It’s time to pass the torch, to raise awareness about the importance of political engagement. The Kataeb Party urgently needs fresh faces to carry our legacy forward," he stated.

According to Gemayel, youth engagement is a crucial pillar of the party’s future, demonstrating its ongoing significance in Lebanon’s political landscape.

Turning to national politics, Gemayel criticized the Lebanese state's past failures, particularly its handling of Hezbollah. He blamed previous administrations for enabling the militant group’s violations, which he said have contributed to Lebanon’s current crisis.

“Hezbollah is now weaker, and it’s time to move beyond its influence,” he said, calling for national unity to prevent the group from regaining control.

Addressing the upcoming municipal and mayoral elections, Gemayel insisted that further delays were unacceptable.

"We have already started preparations for the elections in Beirut, and we are determined to win—not just in the capital, but across the country," he said.

While advocating for a unified electoral list in Beirut to avoid unnecessary conflict, he made it clear that the Kataeb Party was ready for a competitive race if consensus could not be reached.

"The municipal elections are a critical battle for us. We must ensure that Christian votes in Beirut’s first district are directed appropriately," he stated.

Gemayel concluded by reinforcing the importance of unity and political engagement, urging party members to remain steadfast in their pursuit of a democratic and prosperous Lebanon.

"The future of Lebanon is in the hands of its people, and the Kataeb Party will continue to lead the charge toward a better future," he pledged.
