President Joseph Aoun held a phone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Saturday to discuss the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, according to a statement from the Élysée.

The two leaders expressed their shared concern about adhering to the deadlines stipulated in the ceasefire accord. Macron underscored the importance of all parties honoring their commitments promptly to restore Lebanon's sovereignty over its entire territory.

"The commitments made by all parties must be honored without delay, so Lebanon can regain  full sovereignty over its territory," Macron told Aoun, as per the Élysée statement, as he also reiterated France’s unwavering commitment to this goal.

Macron commended the progress achieved in recent months, which he attributed in part to the efforts of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).

"The sustained involvement of the LAF has been instrumental in implementing the ceasefire conditions," he noted, highlighting the role of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the ongoing dialogue between stakeholders through the established monitoring mechanism.

France, alongside the United States and UNIFIL, remains deeply engaged in supporting the ceasefire, Macron assured Aoun. He emphasized that all parties must fulfill their obligations without further delay and stressed the need for enabling displaced individuals on both sides of the Blue Line to return safely to their homes.

"France will continue to support the ceasefire to ensure every party honors its commitments, allowing displaced families to return home in safety," the French President said.

The conversation concluded with both leaders agreeing to maintain close contact as efforts to solidify the ceasefire and stabilize the region continue.
