Israeli forces intensified attacks across southern Lebanon overnight and into Wednesday morning, carrying out airstrikes, artillery fire, large-scale demolitions and fires in a series of towns and villages.

Israeli forces set fire to homes in Beit al-Siyad overnight, while explosions were reported in Majdal Zoun and Bint Jbeil, where three separate blasts shook the town.

An explosive drone was also reported to have detonated over Mansouri, south of Tyre.

Israeli aircraft struck the outskirts of the Ali al-Taher forest, toward the al-Deir neighborhood in Nabatiyeh  al-Fawqa. A series of airstrikes later hit areas around Taybeh and Deir Siriane, while Israeli warplanes continued flying over southern Lebanon.

A large explosion was also reported in Doha Kfar Roummane.

An Israeli Merkava tank fired several shells at Mansouri, while Israeli forces carried out further detonations on the outskirts of Sarbine in the Bint Jbeil district as troops conducted a sweeping operation in the area.

Israeli aircraft also struck Qantara in the Marjayoun district overnight, while intermittent artillery fire hit the outskirts of Hadatha in the early morning.

Widespread demolitions and fires

The attacks followed a particularly intense day of Israeli military activity across southern Lebanon on Tuesday, including extensive demolitions, especially in Mansouri in the Tyre district.

An Israeli drone struck a van in Doha Kfar Roummane in the Nabatiyeh district during the afternoon, although no casualties were reported.

Throughout the day, Israeli forces carried out a series of detonations, many of them large-scale, in Majdal Zoun, Mansouri, Markaba, Zawtar Sharqieh, Ainata and Sarbine. Several houses were also demolished in Doubeih, on the western outskirts of Mais al-Jabal, and in Mansouri.

Israeli forces used phosphorus shells around Beni Hayan, while an Israeli helicopter conducted a sweeping operation from the outskirts of Taybeh toward the Litani River in the Marjayoun district.

Artillery fire was reported around Beni Hayan, Khiam, Markaba, Qantara, Tayr Harfa toward Wadi Hassan, Mansouri, Beit Lif, Sarbine, Braasheet and Doha Kfar Roummane.

Beni Hayan came under particularly heavy fire, with at least 10 additional heavy shells hitting the village during the afternoon and triggering fires.

Israeli forces also opened machine-gun fire toward Beit Lif, Hadatha and Yohmor al-Shaqif.

Fires broke out in olive groves between Hadatha and Haris, while Israeli forces also set vegetation ablaze in the al-Wadi area of Ainata and on the slopes of Jabal al-Warda in Markaba.

Israeli military vehicles were reported moving in Houla, Markaba and Mansouri, as well as along the route from Taybeh toward Qantara. Later in the afternoon, an Israeli Merkava tank advanced into Mansouri and took up a position in the Rabeh neighborhood.

Israeli forces also carried out an extensive sweeping operation in Hadatha, while an Israeli drone dropped two stun grenades on Yater in the Bint Jbeil district.

Separately, a civilian was wounded in Tayr Debba, in the Tyre district, when a remnant of war-related ordnance exploded.

Ceasefire under growing strain

The latest attacks followed overnight detonations on Monday in Hadatha and on the outskirts of Haris. Israeli military vehicles were also seen moving from Zawtar Sharqieh toward Mayfadoun in the Nabatiyeh district, alongside a sweeping operation in the area.

Israeli artillery also struck Wadi Zibqine, Hadatha, Wadi Ayoun on the outskirts of Sarbine, the Ali al-Taher ridge, Doha Kfar Roummane and Wadi Slouqi in the Marjayoun district.

The Israeli army has continued demolishing infrastructure on a near-daily basis in villages where its forces remain deployed, despite a fragile ceasefire that has been in place since June.
