Israeli warplanes carried out strikes in southern Lebanon early Thursday, while Israeli armored forces advanced into an area near the border village of Kfarshuba, according to local reports, as security tensions remained high along the frontier.

At around 6 a.m., Israeli aircraft carried out two strikes on the Ali al-Taher forest on the eastern outskirts of Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa.

The aircraft fired several concussion missiles, causing a powerful explosion that was heard across the surrounding area and sent thick clouds of smoke into the sky.

Israeli warplanes had also carried out an overnight strike on an area between the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqieh and Mayfadoun.

Meanwhile, two Israeli Merkava tanks, accompanied by several military vehicles, moved into the eastern outskirts of Kfar Shuba, reaching the Shmeis area.

Israeli forces raised the Israeli flag at the site, according to local reports.

The incursion was accompanied by intensive machine-gun fire directed toward the surrounding area, amid continued security tensions along the border.

The developments come as Israeli military activity has remained elevated in southern Lebanon despite a fragile cease-fire aimed at containing hostilities and preventing a wider escalation.

Israel Says It Has Destroyed Hundreds of Hezbollah Sites

The Israeli military said Wednesday that forces from its Golani Brigade had destroyed more than 400 sites it identified as Hezbollah infrastructure in recent weeks in what Israel calls its “security zone” in southern Lebanon.

The military said its troops had also located a large quantity of weapons in the area, including anti-tank missiles, surface-to-air missiles, explosive devices, Kalashnikov rifles and mortars.

Israel says its operations are aimed at dismantling Hezbollah's military infrastructure and preventing the group from rebuilding positions close to the border.
