Kataeb Party Calls for a Transitional Government That Would Sponsor Parliamentary Elections

The Kataeb party on Tuesday called for forming a transitional government that would sponsor the parliamentary elections, stressing the need to reproduce the entire power as soon as possible through elections and under an international supervision.

“The Beirut 1 conference” must be held as a starting point for openness and reconciliation which reassures the Lebanese and won’t end except with radical solutions that preserve Lebanon's sovereignty, unify its weapons, and preserve its diversity,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb political bureau following its weekly meeting.

“What is required today is to form a fully independent government whose goal is to face the state of economic emergency, to halt the collapse of the institutions, and to reconfigure the authority through fair elections, now that the current parliament has lost the legitimacy of representing the majority of the Lebanese and has entered the stage of sterility of convening and adopting the right laws,” it said.

The Political Bureau slammed the economic situation currently prevailing over the country, deploring the exorbitant rise in prices.
