Rahi Says International Conference Is Needed to Solve Country's Problems

Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rahi on Thursday called on every Lebanese party to draw up a paper about the problems Lebanon is currently undergoing, saying that this paper should be presented to the United nations without referring to any other country to seek solutions.

“When we were living in a time of neutrality, prosperity and progress prevailed over the country; and now we have lost everything when it was imposed on us not to be neutral,” Al-Rahi said.

"We have reached a place where we can no longer understand each other. Thus, we have called for an international conference,” he added.

“We have to diagnose our problem and analyze our suffering based on 3 constants: The National Accord Document, the Constitution and the Charter, “he noted.

“External interference is the reason behind all the problems and disputes prevailing over the country today,” he affirmed.
