Kataeb Party Calls for Completing Investigation Into the Beirut Port Blast

The Kataeb party on Tuesday refused the practices carried out by some of the people of power in order to obstruct the probe into the Beirut port blast, calling on Judge Fadi Sawan to pursue his investigation without yielding to any pressures and to hold everyone involved in this crime accountable no matter how significant he is.

“The remarks made by Interior Minister Mohammad Fahmi regarding his refusal to cooperate with the Judiciary are nothing but an obstruction to the Justice,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb political bureau following its weekly meeting.

“If these remarks were made by any official in a country where the law prevails, he would have been held accountable and brought to justice immediately,” it said.

The party deemed the current ruling authority as corrupted and incapable of changing its ongoing approach, saying that the key to Lebanon’s salvation is for the political class to leave as soon as possible and without any further delay.
