French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday stressed that the Lebanese people should not remain held as hostages by any of the current political class, calling for forming a new government as soon as possible.
“Lebanon is suffering from the failure to implement the required political path,” Macron said during a press conference following his meeting with Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the Elysee Palace.
For his part, El-Sisi voiced his country’s ongoing support to Lebanon, calling the Lebanese political forces to give the government a chance to solve the country’s problems.
“The Arabs have never abandoned the Lebanese people,” he said.
