The Kataeb Municipalities Department on Tuesday called for the need to thoroughly study any decisions related to the coronavirus measures before they are taken so as to see their impact on the Lebanese citizens, urging for trying to combine between preserving the public safety with the economic interests.
“In a time when Lebanon is going through the worst economic crisis in its modern history, and in light of a suffocating living crisis that is prevailing over the country, the Lebanese citizens as well as the municipalities were surprised by the Interior Ministry’s decision to isolate 111 Lebanese villages and towns due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic,” said a statement issued by the Kataeb Municipalities Department.
“Although we are very aware of the seriousness of this epidemic and the potential disaster resulting from it, the tragedy of obstructing people’s lives by any means and by random decisions is no less dangerous "than the risk of the epidemic itself,” the statement added.
“The confrontation of this virus is a common one and it is a personal responsibility of each of us. The health of the nation and the citizen is a priority we seek and we wish for all,” it said.
