Kataeb's Chouf District Warns Against Reopening Naameh Landfill

Kataeb's Chouf District on Wednesday warned against reopening the Naameh landfill, vowing to keep on standing by the residents’ side in defending their rights.

“It is unacceptable for the Naameh citizens to pay the price of the State’s ongoing corruption and failure in handling the waste management file,” said a statement issued by the Kataeb’s Chouf District.

“After nearly five years since the Naameh landfill was closed and the fake promises and plans made by the concerned ministers regarding this issue, the Lebanese haven’t seen any implementation of the sane environmental policies based on decentralization and health treatment of waste that were established with funds of external donations,” the statement added.

“Instead, the corruption appraoch has continued and led people to starvation.”
