Kataeb Party Says Those Who Led the Country into Crises, Cannot Be Entrusted with Saving It

“The party warns of dragging Lebanon into regional conflicts that would strike a blow to its privacy, amid recent developments that have killed Iranian military leaders and other Iraqi militia members affiliated to Iran," read a statement issued following the weekly meeting of the Kataeb's politburo.

“The party implores Lebanese officials to remain vigilant over their approach to the recent events and to refrain from taking sides.”

The statement deplored the pre-protests partitioning mentality prevailing over the country’s management, as it has entailed repercussions of corruption, poverty and starvation.

The party, therefore, warned of continuing with the same logic of distribution of ministerial portfolios and shares because “those who led the country into its crises, cannot be entrusted with saving it.”

“The party accuses the political authority of causing the problem, noting that the only solution is with them stepping down from any administrative position ahead of the early Parliamentary elections that would rebuild the state.”

The politburo blamed the central bank governor, Parliament and the resigned government for the current situation and urged it to set clear banking operations to save citizens from banks’ discretion and stockbrokers’ vagaries.

In addition, the party encouraged the president of the Lebanese University to devote his efforts on reinvigorating the academic life at the highly esteemed Lebanese University.
