Hankache Assures that Hezbollah's Stature Will Be Transformed After October 17 Uprising

Kataeb MP Elias Hankache on Wednesday blasted Hezbollah and Amal Movement supporters’ assault yesterday on peaceful protesters at the Ring Bridge and Riad el-Solh.

“The group wanted to transmit either of the two messages or both, either attempting to dissuade PM Saad Hariri from resigning or to present a prototype of what things would be like after the resignation,” Hankache told Asharq al-Awsat.

He indicated that Hezbollah seems to be suggesting that the party’s decision cannot be crossed.

“There’s no doubt that Hezbollah did not favor Hariri’s resignation given that it possesses control over that government and its stepping down would expose it,” he added.

He asserted that what comes after the “October 17 uprising” will be different than what happened before and Hezbollah’s stature will be transformed.

Hankache pointed out that all possibilities are on the table following the resignation especially that Hezbollah’s components are connected to foreign powers which are subject to alterations.
