The Council of Maronite Bishops on Wednesday called on the government to resolve the Qabr Shmoun incident with the competent judiciary without any political meddling.

During their monthly meeting, the Council prompted co-existence incited by the historical Christian-Druze reconciliation.

“We hope that the Parliament rectifies the flaws and economic and financial gaps when taking up the budget following the political approach,” the statement noted.

“The government should reconcile to solve this current crisis in order for the adoption of the audit of previous years' financial accounts and to jump-start the productive economy,” it added.
