Retired army officers announced on Tuesday that they will launch a new round of escalatory actions this week, warning of more "painful" moves should the government fail to meet their demands.
The army veterans said that they will block main roads leading to Beirut on Thursday from 5:00 AM until 10:00 AM, in what is to be considered as as a warning message that will be followed by harsher actions if no change happens.
Protesters will make way only for security forces, ambulances as well as vehicles belonging to the Army, Civil Defense and United Nations to pass.
The movement apologized in advance to the Lebanese for the inconvenience that their protests will cause, saying that this is the only way that makes the ruling authority pay heed to the people.
Veterans have been protesting against the 2019 draft austerity budget which includes items that cut their pensions and end-of-service benefits.
