Gemayel, Rifi Confer Over Latest Developments

Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Wednesday met with former Minister Achraf Rifi at the party’s headquarters in Saifi, with talks featuring high on the latest developments in Lebanon.

The meeting also focused on ways to intensify cooperation between all opposition forces and figureheads amid the rampant corruption plaguing the country, the gradual collapse of the state structure’s, and the constant violations being committed against sovereignty.

"Our assessment of the current phase prompts us to intensify our meetings and collaboration given that the country is at serious risk at the sovereign, livelihood, economic and social life levels,” Rifi said following the meeting.

"The situation has taken a really dangerous course that it is no longer acceptable to stand idly by. What is required is to reach out to each other, lay the groundwork for an opposition force, and work on rescuing the country as well as fortifying the state and its institutions," he added.

The meeting was attended by Kataeb politburo member Serge Dagher, the party leader's advisor Michel Khoury, lawyer Georges Salwan and Rifi’s advisor Assaad Bechara.
