Aoun: U.S. Decision on Golan Heights Directly Affects Lebanese Interests
President Michel Aoun on Tuesday condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of the Golan Heights as Israeli territory, saying that this move contradicts with the international law as well as the UN Security Council’s resolutions, and risks aggravating tensions in the region.
During a meeting with Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Aoun said that the Arab World is living a "black day" following Trump's decision, adding that this recognition directly affects Lebanon's interests.
