Lebanon's Central Bank Orders Exceptional Three-Month Payment to Ease Financial Strain

In response to the ongoing crisis in Lebanon, the Central Bank of Lebanon has taken a significant step to alleviate financial pressures on certain beneficiaries.

Following a meeting held on Wednesday, the Central Council of the Central Bank issued a directive requiring banks to make an exceptional, one-time payment to beneficiaries of Circulars No. 158 and 166.

According to the Central Bank's announcement, banks are to disburse an amount equivalent to three monthly installments at the beginning of October 2024.

This move aims to provide immediate financial relief to depositors affected by the country’s severe financial and economic challenges.

The payment will benefit individuals who have been struggling with limited access to their funds due to strict banking controls implemented due to Lebanon’s economic collapse.
