Lebanon, UAE Explore Infrastructure Cooperation as Delegation Tours Key Lebanese Facilities

Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny led a field tour on Wednesday of Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport and the Port of Beirut, accompanied by a senior delegation from the United Arab Emirates, in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on infrastructure development and knowledge exchange.

The UAE delegation was headed by Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, and included officials from the Government Experience Exchange Office (GEEO), the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE Embassy in Beirut, and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).

The visit comes amid growing Lebanese efforts to attract regional investment and restore confidence in critical infrastructure following years of political instability and economic crisis.

Speaking after touring the Port of Beirut, Minister Rasamny emphasized the urgency of national recovery and the role of international allies.

“We must make the decision to restore citizens’ trust in their country,” he said. “The UAE is our second home. During the difficult years when Lebanon was effectively hijacked, our people were forced to leave. Today, with the beginning of a new era, we are determined to bring our people back.”

The UAE delegation echoed that sentiment, signaling strong political will from Abu Dhabi to support Lebanon’s recovery.

“The Lebanese people have a real desire to see their country regain its strategic role,” said Lootah. “The President of the United Arab Emirates is committed to supporting Lebanon in achieving everything it hopes for.”
