Lebanese Army Stands Strong Against Defamation Campaigns, Prioritizes Cohesion and Civil Peace

In response to the escalating and brutal assaults by Israel on various Lebanese regions, the Army Command has issued a statement emphasizing its unwavering commitment to defending Lebanon.

The statement clarifies that the Lebanese Army is deployed across the entire country, including the southern borders, fulfilling its national responsibilities while maintaining readiness to protect the homeland within its available resources. This commitment is rooted in the directives of the political authority, which underscores the importance of safeguarding both Lebanon and the military institution itself. The Army Command is also dedicated to adhering to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and its provisions, coordinating closely with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

In its statement, the Army command refuted campaigns of defamation and falsehoods against the military institution and its leadership, firmly stating that it will not engage in disputes or political wrangling as it prioritizes the protection and cohesion of the military over any external issues or pressures.

"The Army command's primary focus is to halt the ongoing aggression, support the Lebanese people, address the crisis of displacement, and carry on rescue operations in collaboration with relevant agencies while maintaining civil peace and internal stability," the statement stressed.

"Past experiences have demonstrated that the army serves as the backbone of Lebanon, providing security and stability for all Lebanese citizens," the military added, urging unity around it and expressing hope that international efforts would succeed in ending Israeli aggression.
