Labor Day Marks Social and Political Defeat in Lebanon

Kuwaiti Newspaper Al Rai indicated that the Lebanese citizens' uprising against their situation should have occurred on the first of May.

However, Lebanese workers whose salaries and social lives have collapsed due to the depreciation of their wages only view Labor Day as a holiday, without any hope for an improvement in their living conditions.

The newspaper added that Labor Day only serves to remind Lebanese people that their rights have been violated after losing their savings and end-of-service compensations.

Meanwhile, they watch the French people demonstrate against raising the retirement age by two years and prepare for Labor Day celebrations in the streets.
