Kataeb Slams Hezbollah Over UAE ‘Terror Plot’, Urges State Action

The Kataeb Party on Friday strongly condemned what it described as a terrorist plot targeting the United Arab Emirates, denouncing any involvement by Hezbollah and warning of the broader implications for Lebanon and regional security.

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates said on Thursday they had dismantled a “terrorist network” funded and directed by Hezbollah and Iran, arresting its members after uncovering activities involving money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

In a statement, the party’s foreign affairs department said any participation by Hezbollah in such activities would constitute “a serious attack on the security and stability of Arab states.”

The statement pointed to what it described as emerging evidence linking cells uncovered in several Arab countries — including Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain — to individuals or networks associated with Hezbollah. It said these developments highlight the group’s continued cross-border operations and pose a significant threat to Arab national security.

The Kataeb Party warned that such actions directly harm Lebanon by entangling it in conflicts that do not serve its national interest. It said Hezbollah’s regional involvement has, over time, damaged Lebanon’s image, distanced it from its Arab and international surroundings, and drawn it into destructive confrontations.

The party cautioned against what it described as Hezbollah’s ongoing “adventurism,” arguing that previous experiences have shown this reckless approach brings “only destruction, isolation and collapse” to Lebanon.

It added that the group’s persistence in its current course places the Lebanese population at serious risk, potentially dragging the country into deeper instability at a time when it urgently needs to restore stability and rebuild its ties with Arab and international partners.

The statement called on the Lebanese State to assume full responsibility and take the necessary measures to end practices that undermine national sovereignty and security. It also urged Arab and international actors to move swiftly to contain what it described as unchecked behavior and to curb “terrorist militias” before it is too late.

The Kataeb Party concluded that safeguarding Lebanon requires restoring sovereign decision-making, ending the presence of weapons outside State control, and preserving the country’s longstanding ties with Arab states, away from regional alignments and what it described as reckless policies.
